To his order, the dog bit the intruder. Est-ce-que ça semble naturel?
A:
@Pioushope I'm having a hard time thinking of how to explain this.. on/upon just sounds more natural. In a sentence like "The dog responded to his owners' order and bit the intruder." the "to" makes sense. One of the definitions of on is "engaged in." an example would be "I was out on errands" or "I was engaged in errands." In this sentence, the dog is engaged in the order. Does this make any sense?
