Back when VHS tapes were popular, you couldn't only record one video per tape. If you wanted to record a video, but you only had one tape and it already had a video on it you would tape the new video over the old one. Example: "I accidentally taped the Starwars movie over our wedding video."
@eodud745 either you're talking about dubbing a movie or a bootleg.
dubbing is taking a piece of audio & putting it over video. the original sound of the video would be replaced with the new audio. e.g. the original Godzilla movie, they took English audio & put it over the the film. Then when the actors would say "it's Godzilla" their mouths kept moving because they were actually speaking Japanese at the time of filming.
bootleg is a slang for "copy", especially when it's a bad copy . the best example & what people mostly think of is, someone going into a movie theatre & recording the movie on a camera, then that person would go out & sell the bootleg copy of the movie.
