I learned this structure ''I got held up at work'' now.
But I could not understand why we use ''held'' rather than ''hold''
Like get sth done but I don't think so.
Can you express why we use held. I can understand the action occurred in the past so we use got inspite of ''get'', but when it comes to ''held'' it is so complicated for me

Got/get as substitutes for the passive forms of "to be", as here, are followed by the past participle of a verb. The apple was eaten/the apple got eaten.....
